San Diego Museum of Man
Located beneath the ornate 200-foot California Tower, the San Diego Museum of Man is the city’s only museum devoted to anthropology. With its Spanish colonial and mission style architecture, the landmark building was originally constructed for the 1915–16 Panama-California Exposition. Today, a key focus of the museum is to create and display dynamic and educational anthropological exhibits about people and places throughout the Americas and around the world.

Take a giant step back into the intrigue and mystery of Egypt in the Children’s Discovery Center, where children can enjoy hands-on exploration of this fascinating ancient culture.
Complementing the diverse exhibitions, the Museum of Man's Museum Store features fine Egyptian jewelry and sculptures, Mata Ortiz pottery from Mexico, and an extensive selection of handmade Native American jewelry and pottery. Also offered are whimsical Mexican folk art, a wide array of Dia de los Muertos merchandise, delightfully carved animals from Oaxaca, Mexico, Guatemalan clothing, and Zuni fetishes. The children's section includes craft kits, beautifully illustrated books of Native American legends, as well as musical instruments from around the world, such as ocarinas, panpipes, and reed flutes.
